Caviness Jewelry was sold only in high-end boutique and department stores and fine jewelry shops in United States, and they were very selective as to who carried their jewelry. By the beginning of the 1950’s Japan had re-kindled it's jewelry industry and sought to fulfill the growing market in the U.S. for quality pieces of well made jewelry. Her venue in the beginning was found in the streets of San Francisco where she sold pieces displayed in fishing tackle boxes. Laurel launched her business in the 1960's .
