The Duette consists of a frame made specifically to hold two pin clips (or fur clips) in a fixed position so that together they can be worn as a brooch. Her venue in the beginning was found in the streets of San Francisco where she sold pieces displayed in fishing tackle boxes. Laurel launched her business in the 1960's . She went to China in 1971 and discovered cloisonne' with which she designed paintings and had the designs made into earrings. These earrings, now a part of the Port of Mystery collection, are examples of that creative process.

Enameled Georgian Lapel Pin
Part of the Port of Mystery's collection from the Georgian Era, this lapel Pin is both delicate and understated. The "C" clasp is an indicator of an origin date no later than 1900. There is no rollover or locking mechanism and the C extends approximately 75% around the circle and bends inward. These clasps were used almost exclusively through the Georgian era right up until 1900. Well over a hundred years old, this piece is in exceptional condition.
