1950′s Aurora Borealis Crystal Bead Pin
Beads and beaded jewelry was wildly popular throughout the 1950’s. By the beginning of the 1950’s Japan had re-kindled it's jewelry industry and sought to fulfill the growing market in the U.S. for quality pieces of well made jewelry. Marked "Japan", this Crystal bead pin is a wonderful example of why these post war pieces have become a popular collectable. Clustered on a 1.5 inch round base, the multicolored Aurora Borealis Crystal Beads were all hand set. Priced well below value, this pin would be a perfect starter piece for the new collector.

In the collectable jewelry community, pieces featuring the color red are highly prized. This early 1950's glass bead necklace is no exception. In original condition, the beads have not been restrung. The necklace is secured by a J-hook and bead chain which is likewise in unrestored condition. Original, unrestored jewelry in good condition carries a higher value on the collectable market than similiar pieces that have been altered. Dating back to a period of time before it became usual practice to irradiate Turquoise in order to "enhance" the color, this Pin Circa dates to 1940-1950.
