By the beginning of the 1950’s Japan had re-kindled it's jewelry industry and sought to fulfill the growing market in the U.S. for quality pieces of well made jewelry. Marked "Japan", this Crystal bead pin is a wonderful example of why these post war pieces have become a popular collectable. Her venue in the beginning was found in the streets of San Francisco where she sold pieces displayed in fishing tackle boxes. Laurel launched her business in the 1960's . She went to China in 1971 and discovered cloisonne' with which she designed paintings and had the designs made into earrings. These earrings, now a part of the Port of Mystery collection, are examples of that creative process.
