In the collectable jewelry community, pieces featuring the color red are highly prized.  This early 1950's glass bead necklace is no exception.  In original condition, the beads have not been restrung.  The necklace is secured by a J-hook and bead chain which is likewise in unrestored condition. Original, unrestored jewelry in good condition carries a higher value on the collectable market than similiar pieces that have been altered.  Measuring 17 inches from end to end, this necklace is a classic rendition of a wardrobe staple from an era long since passed.....and yet, this piece easily transitions into the "Retro" wardrobe of today's fashionista. 1950′s Aurora Borealis Crystal Bead Pin

Beads and beaded jewelry was wildly popular throughout the 1950’s. By the beginning of the 1950’s Japan had re-kindled it's jewelry industry and sought to fulfill the growing market in the U.S.  for quality pieces of well made jewelry.  Marked "Japan", this Crystal bead pin  is a wonderful example of why these post war pieces have become a popular collectable.  Clustered on a 1.5 inch round base, the multicolored Aurora Borealis Crystal Beads were all hand set. Priced well below value, this pin would be a perfect starter piece for the new collector.
