1950′s Aurora Borealis Crystal Bead Pin
Beads and beaded jewelry was wildly popular throughout the 1950’s. By the beginning of the 1950’s Japan had re-kindled it's jewelry industry and sought to fulfill the growing market in the U.S. for quality pieces of well made jewelry. Laurel Burch Silver/Enamel Pierced Earrings
Laurel Burch Inc. was formed by a self taught artist who found her passion selling jewelry she personally designed and manufactured. Her venue in the beginning was found in the streets of San Francisco where she sold pieces displayed in fishing tackle boxes. Laurel launched her business in the 1960's . She went to China in 1971 and discovered cloisonne' with which she designed paintings and had the designs made into earrings. These earrings, now a part of the Port of Mystery collection, are examples of that creative process.
