Mexican Silver Dragon’s Breath Opal Bracelet-SOLD

Silversmith's designed and manufactured jewelry for centuries in Mexico. It wasn't until the 1930's that Mexican Silver Jewelry become popular in the United States, when William Spratling established a retail outlet near Taxco Mexico. Soon after,  Mexican Silver Jewelry began to be imported by retail outlets in U.S..  In short time, Mexican Silver Jewelry could be found in stores throughout the states, from fashionable Gump’s in San Francisco to Montgomery Ward in Chicago and it was "all the rage".  Mexican Silver continues to be a highly collectable item. Figural Brooch/Pin

A sweet little bird Lapel Pin set with a faux opal feature glass stone.  Figural's are a particularily popular type of collectable jewelry.  The seasoned vendor at any jewelry show will tell you that figurals are always in demand.  For Aunt Bessie (who collects 'cats'), Uncle Tom (who collects 'golf" items) or your mother (bees), father (fish) or sister (butterflys) or brother (ducks), figurals are the perfect gift!  For the collector, figurals are easily displayed and organized.  A great way to start any jewelry collection is to begin "collecting" a type of figural.  It really is addictive and often leads to bigger and better collections. This 1950's pin would be a great 'starter' piece.

Laurel Burch Silver/Enamel Pierced Earrings

Laurel Burch  Inc. was formed by a self taught artist who found her passion selling jewelry she personally designed and manufactured.  Her venue in the beginning was found in the streets of San Francisco where she sold pieces displayed in fishing tackle boxes.  Laurel launched her business in the 1960's . She went to China in 1971 and discovered   cloisonne' with which she designed paintings and had the designs made into earrings. These earrings, now a part of the Port of Mystery collection, are examples of that creative process.
