Enameled Georgian Lapel Pin

Part of the Port of Mystery's collection from the Georgian Era, this lapel Pin is both delicate and understated.  The "C" clasp is an indicator of an origin date no later than 1900. There is no rollover or locking mechanism and the C extends approximately 75% around the circle and bends inward.  These clasps were used almost exclusively through the Georgian era right up until 1900.  Well over a hundred years old, this piece is in exceptional condition.

Coro Duette

Coro Duettes are pins or brooches which are comprised of at least three separate parts that can be worn individually or as one piece.  The Duette consists of a frame made specifically to hold two pin clips (or fur clips) in a fixed position so that together they can be worn as a brooch.  Duettes are often missing components and therefore those pieces which are complete are much more valuable.  Marked as "Coro" with a patent number, this piece is in excellent condition.

Crystal Bead Scatter Pin

Dainty, yet brilliant crystal bead lapel pin. The crystal beads are hand set with Rhinestone pins. Measures 3 inches round. In the 1950's small lapel pins were worn in clusters and were known as "Scatter pins".  Very popular at the time, these small pins remain very collectable to this day. This pin was obviously worn in it's day and has some wear to the back of the piece. The wear is not obvious when the pin is being worn, however as a collectable the value is somewhat diminished anytime the piece is less than perfect. Priced accordingly, this piece is bargain at twice the price!

Laurel Burch  Inc. was formed by a self taught artist who found her passion selling jewelry she personally designed and manufactured.  Her venue in the beginning was found in the streets of San Francisco where she sold pieces displayed in fishing tackle boxes.  Laurel launched her business in the 1960's . She went to China in 1971 and discovered   cloisonne' with which she designed paintings and had the designs made into earrings. These earrings, now a part of the Port of Mystery collection, are examples of that creative process.

Figural Brooch/Pin

A sweet little bird Lapel Pin set with a faux opal feature glass stone.  Figural's are a particularily popular type of collectable jewelry.  The seasoned vendor at any jewelry show will tell you that figurals are always in demand.  For Aunt Bessie (who collects 'cats'), Uncle Tom (who collects 'golf" items) or your mother (bees), father (fish) or sister (butterflys) or brother (ducks), figurals are the perfect gift!  For the collector, figurals are easily displayed and organized.  A great way to start any jewelry collection is to begin "collecting" a type of figural.  It really is addictive and often leads to bigger and better collections. This 1950's pin would be a great 'starter' piece.
