Considered to be “cutting edge” and innovative when introduced during the 1940′s and 1950′s, Collectable plastic jewelry is divided into three basic categories: Celluloid, Bakelite and Lucite. Jewelry created using plastics from that period are not only beautiful, they are durable, quality pieces and are highly collectable to those “in the know”. Crystal Bead Scatter Pin

Dainty, yet brilliant crystal bead lapel pin. The crystal beads are hand set with Rhinestone pins. Measures 3 inches round. In the 1950's small lapel pins were worn in clusters and were known as "Scatter pins".  Very popular at the time, these small pins remain very collectable to this day. This pin was obviously worn in it's day and has some wear to the back of the piece. The wear is not obvious when the pin is being worn, however as a collectable the value is somewhat diminished anytime the piece is less than perfect. Priced accordingly, this piece is bargain at twice the price!

Laurel Burch Silver/Enamel Pierced Earrings

Laurel Burch  Inc. was formed by a self taught artist who found her passion selling jewelry she personally designed and manufactured.  Her venue in the beginning was found in the streets of San Francisco where she sold pieces displayed in fishing tackle boxes.  Laurel launched her business in the 1960's . She went to China in 1971 and discovered   cloisonne' with which she designed paintings and had the designs made into earrings. These earrings, now a part of the Port of Mystery collection, are examples of that creative process.
