New Ban on Ivory
Beware! You may not be able to buy or sell anything of any age that is made totally or partially of ivory. Everything from a piano to a button. All import, export, resale or donation of items that contain ivory less than 100 years old from African elephants was banned by Executive Order from President Obama on Feb. 11, 201. Auctioneers, collectors, dealers, artists, musicians, museums, and others are concerned. There's still time to make your thoughts known.
Happy Easter!
This festive 8-inch high cast iron rabbit doorstop is the perfect way to welcome Easter guests. It was made at the Albany Foundry in Albany, New York and sold for $432 at a Bertoia auction.
Ford Mustang Turns 50
The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic and popular cars in automotive history. It made its debut on April 17, 1964, at the New York World’s Fair. It cost between $2,400 and $4,400 in 1964, depending on options, and can be valued at over $100,000 today. But you can celebrate Mustang’s 50th birthday with this hot red die cast version for under $15.
It’s Tax Day
April 15th is Tax Day. Are you dreading handing over a pile of money to the government? Or looking forward to receiving a pile of money as a refund? This vintage metal paperweight looks like a pile of gold coins. The buyer paid for $48 at a New Jersey auction. Now he can fool his friends with his “gold coin” hoard.
